MJ contacted 5byseven for a studio portrait session. Years from now she wants to be able to look back and say “that was me at forty”. Her hard work and dedication and a lifestyle change has paid-off and she wanted to capture the results. This forty-two year old makes forties look good. Awesome job MJ forties are the new thirties!

Dave, aka DJ Allg00d, approached 5byseven to cover his 30th Birthday at El Dorado Cocktail Lounge in San Diego. Being surrounded by friends and family, remind us who we are, what we’ve become and who we are destined to be. Birthdays also remind us how blessed we are to have so many loving people around us. Surrounded by his closest friends and family, they were serenaded by the beautiful up-and-coming artist Clara Chung. Thirtieth birthdays are special. As a thirty-year-old you’re more comfortable in your own skin and priorities change. Harvey Allen once said “The only time you really live fully is from thirty to sixty. The young are slaves to dreams; the old are servants of regrets. Only the middle-aged have all their five senses in the keeping of their wits.”

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to work with some of the student stylists from SACO Hair here in downtown San Diego. Paul, we know him as “that makeup guy”, contacted 5byseven on behalf of SACO Hair to start portfolios for some of the stylists and their models. The first model is Keegan- hair and makeup by Maddie. The second model is Tiffany- hair and makeup by Samantha. The third model is Haidee- hair and makeup by Paul. The last model is Alley- hair and makeup by Kyle. This was our second Annual Trip to New York to support Pnoy Apparel’s Shirt the Kids event, a nationwide tour to help fight poverty by providing shirts to kids in the Philippines. This east coast tour consisted of two states in one weekend, New Jersey and New York. 5byseven provided coverage of the New York portion of STK at The Studio at Webster Hall. Performances by heavy hitters, Deep Foundation with a surprise performance by Melissa Polinar, Kiwi, Seattle’s Prometheus Brown of the Blue Scholars, Bambu with DJ Phatrick and KJ Butter on the ones and twos kept the crowd on their feet. Guest appearances by Bakit Why, Minny Pacquiao, Tim from Rice Cooker Studios, Ruby finalist for Alicia Keys blogger contest, and STK New Jersey’s performers Krystle Cruz and Quest Crew’sVictor Kim made for an eventful and successful evening. The Burkett’s, Balboa Park and balloons. What a tongue twister! 5byseven had the pleasure of photographing the energetic Burkett family over the weekend at Balboa Park.
