Dave, aka DJ Allg00d, approached 5byseven to cover his 30th Birthday at El Dorado Cocktail Lounge in San Diego. Being surrounded by friends and family, remind us who we are, what we’ve become and who we are destined to be. Birthdays also remind us how blessed we are to have so many loving people around us. Surrounded by his closest friends and family, they were serenaded by the beautiful up-and-coming artist Clara Chung. Thirtieth birthdays are special. As a thirty-year-old you’re more comfortable in your own skin and priorities change. Harvey Allen once said “The only time you really live fully is from thirty to sixty. The young are slaves to dreams; the old are servants of regrets. Only the middle-aged have all their five senses in the keeping of their wits.”

This was our second Annual Trip to New York to support Pnoy Apparel’s Shirt the Kids event, a nationwide tour to help fight poverty by providing shirts to kids in the Philippines. This east coast tour consisted of two states in one weekend, New Jersey and New York. 5byseven provided coverage of the New York portion of STK at The Studio at Webster Hall. Performances by heavy hitters, Deep Foundation with a surprise performance by Melissa Polinar, Kiwi, Seattle’s Prometheus Brown of the Blue Scholars, Bambu with DJ Phatrick and KJ Butter on the ones and twos kept the crowd on their feet. Guest appearances by Bakit Why, Minny Pacquiao, Tim from Rice Cooker Studios, Ruby finalist for Alicia Keys blogger contest, and STK New Jersey’s performers Krystle Cruz and Quest Crew’sVictor Kim made for an eventful and successful evening. Patty approached 5byseven to photograph her son’s performance at the Clearview Elementary Talent Show in Chula Vista. She was concerned that she would miss Ben’s performance if she had to focus her attention on taking the photos herself. Her talented son and his friend had the audience rocking out to Nirvana. What a talented group of kids! Complete with a red carpet, a beautiful host and an appearance by TMZ (parent volunteer) it was obvious that the Clearview elementary kids felt like rockstars! The future is looking bright!

July 10, 2009 – Way to start offt Friday… BEER FOR BREAKFAST ! San Diego’s 5byseven covered 91X’s Morning Show, with Mat Diablo, broadcasting live from Oggi’s Eastlake’s this morning. What an exciting kick off for the weekend. The entire 91X Morning Show, Mat, Carlos, Preston, and Sammi + awesome interns :0) kicked the show off at 5am this morning with Apes of Wrath (EP available on iTunes for download), managing to shake things up and pack the bar. To further add to the excitement every 15 minutes 91X raffled off tickets to 311, Rancid and Rise Against concerts.
